Abstract Ring expansion reaction was a hot point for domestic and international chemistry competitions in recent years. Through the analysis of the wrong prediction for the two typical ring expansion reaction products, this paper revealed and summarized the causes of the errors, and provided a referential idea correctly judging the products.
