Abstract The corrosion behavior and mechanism of copper in simulated seawater were studied by the electrochemical methods, such as open potential, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS). This experiment involves the related knowledge of electrolyte solution, primary battery and electrolytic cell, and also related knowledge of surface morphology and composition analysis, which are applied to the research of metal corrosion and can also be used as a comprehensive experimental teaching content for undergraduate students of grade two or graduate students of grade one.
