Independent Research and Development of Large Helium Cryogenic Refrigeration System

Abstract This paper starts from the special properties of the helium gas, especially the two different state of helium in the low temperature that is normal liquid helium and superfluid helium, and analyzes the reason of the helium as the refrigerant of the large scale cryogenic system. And then, through some typical examples, the important role has been elaborated in the scientific research, helium resource security, hydrogen development, and so on. Based on the above application, the independent research and development of the large scale helium cryogenic system in Technical Institute of the Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy and Science since 2009 has been introduced. In order to guarantee the serial production, industrial company of the cryogenic has been established and one product had been exported. In the last, the future goal in the helium cryogenic system have been introduced in detail, that is making a significant breakthrough in the large scale helium cryogenic system, breaking international monopoly and supporting national strategic development.
