Abstract In the late 1970s, cyanoacrylates were introduced to the field of forensic science to develop latent fingerprints on non-porous and semi-porous substrates. Discovery and application history of cyanoacrylates, mechanisms of polymerization and fingerprint development, and enhancement of developed fingerprints are presented to enrich content of courses related to polymers, organic dyes and fluorescence.
