Abstract The influence of peanut oil and kerosene oil on dissolved oxygen in water was measured by optical dissolved oxygen sensor. It was confirmed that neither vegetable oil nor mineral oil could isolate oxygen, but the dissolution rate of oxygen could be significantly reduced. The dissolved oxygen in water or solution could be kept in low concentration for a certain period of time, and vegetable oil was more conducive to maintaining the oxygen deficiency of water samples than mineral oil.
