Abstract The contents related to glutamate in the Ordinary High School Chemistry Curriculum Standards 2017 and teaching material of middle schools were analyzed. Based on the concept of scientific education of HPS, the history of the discovery, research and production of monosodium glutamate were introduced, including the introduction of Chinese chemist Wu Yun-Chu's contribution to China's glutamate industry, and its educational values were revealed.
