Abstract Using the empirical qualitative study of six organic chemistry research groups in three 211 universities, certain creative training modes have been identified and summarized during the stages of project choosing, experimenting and academic paper writing. The prograduate students effectively develop creative thinking, project research and academic writing abilities through the training modes. The insightful findings may shed light on the improvement of training modes for the prograduate students in chemistry discipline.
