Abstract Education scholars at home and abroad have paid more attention to scientific writing ability. As one of the typical forms of scientific writing, the quality of experimental reports is often neglected in teaching. This research proposes that experimental report writing ability should include three dimensions: the completeness, the standardization, and the scientificalness. Based on the experimental tasks of a physical chemistry course, an evaluation tool with good reliability and validity for physical chemistry experimental report writing ability was designed.
