Abstract The supercapacitor experiment was used as an example to illustrate the basic design ideas for converting scientific research of green chemistry into innovative teaching. The working principle and assembly process of two types of supercapacitors (Electric Double-Layer Capacitor (EDLC) and Faraday Pseudocapacitor) and tested performance via cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) had been studied. Finally, the differences between the two were summarized by analyzing the cyclic volt-ampere curve, specific capacitance, energy density and power density. The practical results showed that the electrochemical basics and scientific research had been connected successfully, which allowed students to gain additional insight into the concepts and principles of electrochemistry and receive valuable hands-on experiences on clean energy storage devices. Furthermore, students’ green chemistry literacy also had been enhanced in the process of learning.
