Abstract The second recording of “general chemistry” MOOC in Beijing Institute of Technology was accomplished by using the MOOC platform of China University. In line with the goal of “personal tailored, student oriented, high-order, realistic and innovative education”, we conduct a multi-level and step-up teaching. The results show that this mode can meet the needs of students with different background, greatly improve learning efficiency and overcome the problems, such as, the online students with different levels and limited feedback during teaching. Moreover, the online teaching we carry out is beneficial to the science, ideological and political education.
