The second recording of “general chemistry” MOOC in Beijing Institute of Technology was accomplished by using the MOOC platform of China University. In line with the goal of “personal tailored, student oriented, high-order, realistic and innovative education”, we conduct a multi-level and step-up teaching. The results show that this mode can meet the needs of students with different background, greatly improve learning efficiency and overcome the problems, such as, the online students with different levels and limited feedback during teaching. Moreover, the online teaching we carry out is beneficial to the science, ideological and political education.

Show Abstract ( 41 )
Based on the scientific definition of the content of “atomic structure”, it is considered reasonable to name the chapter “atom and atomic structure”. The teaching contents should include five modules, namely, the structure and properties of atoms, the establishment and evolution of atomic structure model, the arrangement of extranuclear electrons, the introduction of nuclear structure model, and the relationship between atomic structure and periodic law of elements. The teaching key points for “Bohr atom model, description of the motion state of extranuclear electrons, four quantum numbers, the arrangement of extranuclear electrons, and the relationship between atomic structure and periodic law of elements” have been highlighted in the system. The special lecture on “basic concepts of quantum mechanics” held in advance is conducive to the breakthrough of the teaching difficult point of “quantized atomic structure model”. For each difficult point, the specific methods and measures are also put forward. It is proposed to give lessons by using the philosophical methods of divergent thinking as the main one and convergent thinking as the subsidiary one, doing something and not doing anything, and balance. The purpose is to enable students to acquire basic knowledge and learn some scientific thinking methods, learning methods and research methods after studying this chapter.

A new type of closed bipolar electrode system was proposed for conveniently and visually determining vitamin C content in real samples. In this system, an ITO electrode with electrochromic Prussian blue films (PB/ITO) was used as the signal electrode, and the concentration of vitamin C in the samples was measured by colorimetric method. Compared the results with those obtained by titration and high performance liquid chromatography, the proposed method is more reliable, simple, practical and easy to reset, demonstrating a strong potential in applications.

Preparation of metal chromium complex and determination of its splitting energy is a comprehensive experiment in university chemistry experiment course. It is found that there are too many problems such as excessive amounts of medicines, excessive chromium waste, long experimental time and insufficient optimization of experimental conditions etc. To solve these problems, the experiment was improved in three points. Firstly, microscale-experiments were used instead of conventional experiments; secondly, ultraviolet spectrophotometry was used for determination instead of spectrophotometry. Lastly, optimization of experimental conditions was found. There were many advantages of the improved experiment in inquiry of teaching design, environmental protection, low-cost, short time and high accuracy. Through this experiment, students' awareness of energy saving and emission reduction would be enhanced, while students' interest in scientific research would be stimulated, and students' practical ability and scientific spirit of thinking would be cultivated.

In order to meet the requirements of engineering education certification, a comprehensive experiment of microwave synthesis and performance of starch-based super absorbent polymer was designed. The experiment involved the microwave-assisted synthesis, characterization and performance measurement of the super absorbent polymer based on starch and acrylic acid. In this experiment, students were required to consult literatures, understand various processes of preparation of super absorbent polymer and design the experimental scheme, master characterization technologies of ATR-FTIR and XRD and the testing technology of the swelling performance, and analyze the experimental data. In addition, an examination that integrated the process examination and result examination was also designed. Based on the teaching links such as experimental design, operation and data analysis, this examination could comprehensively evaluate the students' experimental abilities. This teaching scheme of the experiment not only improved the teaching quality, but also stimulated the students' interests in experiments and highlighted the cultivation of students' creative thinking as well as practical ability.

Show Abstract ( 35 )
Dispersion polymerization is an important method for preparing monodisperse microspheres, which has been a compulsory experiment for students majoring in polymer. Traditional dispersion polymerization which is based on free radical chain-growth polymerization is difficult to prepare microspheres with high-crosslinking degree and functionalization, and requires a long polymerization time to increase the relatively low monomer conversion. This paper introduces the stepwise polymerized thiol-isocyanate click reaction with high reactivity to synthesize monodisperse, crosslinked, and functional microspheres via dispersion polymerization. In this experiment, monodisperse and crosslinked microspheres could be easily prepared under slightly stirring at room temperature. Moreover, functional microspheres were obtained via adjusting the ratio of thiol and isocyanate monomers. Compared with traditional dispersion polymerization using styrene or acrylate as monomers, thiol-isocyanate reaction in dispersion polymerization as an experiment course has advantages in theory system, skills training, efficiency and expansibility of knowledge.

Experimental inquiry and innovative consciousness is one of the core literacy of chemistry discipline advocated by “General High School Chemistry New Curriculum Standard”. Therefore, cultivating pre-service teachers' exploratory teaching ability in normal colleges plays an important role in their professional development. This article takes a chemistry teacher as the research object, applies the exploratory teaching level evaluation scale, EQUIP table, to evaluate the exploratory teaching level of his internship “oxidation reduction” 3 actual recorded lessons, and supplements the CCITIAS scale for quantitative analysis, in order to explore the characteristics of the inquiry teaching behavior of the research object. The research found the following results: (1) The research object has a certain sense of inquiry, but the level of inquiry practice is still in its infancy; (2) When repeating the university simulation classroom teaching experience, the level of inquiry is higher and the research object has a strong ability to transform the research concept into actual inquiry teaching activity strategies; (3) If there is no experience in the new teaching, the teaching behavior is still knowledge-centered, but there is a certain positive interaction with the students; (4) The research subjects adopt an evasive attitude towards unfamiliar inquiry teaching strategies, and basically adopt the traditional teaching mode.

Under the background of enrollment expansion of the higher vocational colleges, the students of enrollment expansion showed different characteristics and learning basis from the students of normal enrollment. According to the specific characteristics and course standard, the teaching reform of the online and offline blended teaching mode of food chemistry course was carried out from the set of the theoretical and experimental parts and the different teaching requirements facing different learning level students before class, in class, and after class. Multidimensional study effect evaluation was carried out from online learning grades, offline classroom performance and final grade. Combined with the questionnaire analysis of the students' evaluation of the blended teaching, the results show that the study self-discipline and initiative of the expanded enrollment have been significantly improved, the failure rate of the examination has been reduced and the students have a high degree of recognition of the blended teaching. Through the reconstruction of teaching, we try to achieve the goal of flexible and diverse teaching forms not lowering the training standards but cultivate students' good learning habits and establish their confidence to learn the course well.

Based on the theoretical basis of Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM3), with the pre-employment chemistry teachers in grade 2017 from the College of Chemistry of South China Normal University as the research object, a model of the willingness to use the handheld technology digital experiment MOOC was constructed. The study uses SmartPLS3.0 software to demonstrate the scientific nature of the model with partial least squares structural equations. The results found that Subjective Norm, Output Quality, and Personal Innovativeness have a significant positive correlation with Perceived Usefulness. Second, Self-Efficacy and Perceived Enjoyment have a significant positive correlation with Perceived Ease of Use. Personal Innovativeness has a significant positive correlation with Perceived Usefulness while the effect of Perceived Ease of Use is not significant. Third, Perceived Ease of use has a significant positive correlation with Perceived Usefulness. The two have a significant direct impact on Behavioral Intention, while Subjective Norm has no significant impact on Behavioral Intention. Based on the above results, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward for the construction of the handheld technology digital experiment MOOC.
