Abstract This paper reports on a Raman spectroscopy detection system that can be built by students themselves, and the corresponding experimental content is also designed. The cutting-edge surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) technology is introduced for the detection of melamine, an illegal additive in milk. By assembling and operating the instruments, students could have a deeper understanding of the structure and working principle of scientific instruments, which helps to improve students’ practical ability and innovative thinking.
