Abstract Since its introduction, the triple representation of chemistry has attracted the attention of researchers and has guided the theory and practice of chemistry teaching. However, there is no consensus on some basic issues and concepts of triple representation. Based on the clarification and definition of the connotation of triple representation, this article discusses the new achievements of international research on triple representation in recent years, and the related researches can bring thinking and enlightenment for the further research of triple representation.
