Abstract How to reform the teaching method and content of the instrumental analysis course for graduate students to improve the quality of teaching, the Central Laboratory of Nankai University has made a useful attempt. Take the chromatographic analysis experiment as an example; expand the space-time domain of theoretical learning through online courses for students; the combination of enriched experimental content and grouped experiments enhances students enthusiasm for learning and strengthens students practical training;experimental course arrangement driven by scientific research. The type of experimental course arrangement is more in line with the actual needs of students, strengthens students' awareness of active learning, and cultivates students' practical work ability. Teaching practice shows that the curriculum reform has received good results. The new teaching mode improves the practical ability of students, the learning of new instrument methods is helpful to the development of their scientific research and innovation work.
