Abstract  Under the background of “Emerging Engineering Education” represented by advanced materials, new energy and novel technologies, the trend of mutual penetration, mutual intersection and integration among different disciplines is emerging. In view of this, the concept of “Emerging Engineering Education” is regarded as the “catalyst” for the construction of the applied chemistry major of Nankai University. As a result, many strategies in the construction of teaching staff, curriculum setting, teaching practice and talent training were actively explored and practiced in order to cultivate high-quality application-oriented, innovative and compound talents in applied chemistry.
