Abstract This study uses (1)O2/CO2(2)Cl2/NH3 that are required to master the gas preparation and properties and important intermediate gases(3)C2H4/SO2 that are not required to master the gas preparation as the three levels of advanced inspection to test 156 high school students in Beijing's model high school. The results shows that the depth and the systematism of the students' knowledge reserves are not good, especially in the process of gas purification and collection; students have difficulty in extracting external information effectively and their ability of chemical reading needs to be improved;the three levels of advanced level is obvious, from easy to difficult, the lower level as the important foundation of the higher level. Based on this, this research puts forward corresponding teaching strategies.
