Abstract After years of experimental exploration, it was found that the interesting chemical experiment “ignited into a snake” could be done without catalyst, and the experimental result was obtained by burning a mixture of sucrose and sodium bicarbonate directly. The “catalyst” only as an adsorbent for the concentrated heating of the reactants, which made the experimental phenomena more obvious, however, there was no “catalytic” effect on the chemical reaction. Therefore, it is recommended that ordinary laboratories use sand or fine loess to carry out this experiment on the base of the iron stand.
