Abstract Under the background of the national green transformation and achievement of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, this paper introduced the teaching reform of electrochemistry in physical chemistry course. Proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer technology was introduced to illustrate the electrolysis cell, decomposition voltage, polarization curve, overpotential and electrode reaction kinetics. Electrochemical CO2 reduction and N2 reduction were used as case-study materials for after-class discussion in structured group. The task driven teaching method was combined to consolidate the basic knowledge, accompanied with fully improving of the autonomous learning ability, practical application ability and innovation ability. Meanwhile, ideological value guidance ran through the whole education teaching process to cultivate students' political literacy and social responsibility.
