Abstract A comprehensive chemistry experiment on the preparation and application of mineral-based environmental remediation materials was designed based on the chemistry experiment platform to promote the ‘combination of research and learning’ and enhance students’ practical operation ability. Here, the experiment comprises the preparation and characterization of modified zeolite materials and the exploration of their applications. Our teachers’ scientific research achievements are the motivation behind this experiment, which has been probed in the comprehensive experimental course of environmental chemistry in our school.This experiment helps students in mastering important skills such as literature research, material preparation and characterization, performance analysis, data processing, etc. Moreover, this inspires the students to exercise their ability to design new comprehensive experiments and stimulate their interest in exploring new frontiers of environmental remediation materials.
