Abstract A systematic engineering analysis was carried out on the technical indicators of hydrogen storage cylinders in the key special project of “Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Energy Technology”. According to the working conditions of the real gas, a variety of state equations are used for mass balance calculation, and different calculation methods and applicable conditions are carried out. After detailed analysis, the calculation results are summarized and discussed, and the formula selection for the real hydrogen under the condition of high-pressure continuous gradient is proposed, which can be used as the new material for the project-based learning course design under the big ideas concept of the actual gas mass calculation.
