Abstract In the field of forensic science, the visually rapid and accurate inspection of explosive residues at the scene of explosion cases can point out the direction for the investigation of cases and make rapid judgments on the nature of cases. In this paper, six kinds of sensitive units are used to construct the chemical sensor array. Digital cameras are used to take pictures of the chemical sensor array to collect images. Adobe Photoshop 2022 is used to process the images to obtain RGB data. Combined with principal component analysis, cluster analysis and linear discriminant analysis, the types of explosive residues are judged, with an accuracy of 100%. The theory and application of visual inspection based on chemical sensor array are integrated into the experimental teaching of forensic chemistry, which can expand students’ scientific research perspective and train their experimental operation ability.
