Abstract In view of the current situation of chemistry course learning in colleges and universities, this paper discussed the problems about course difficulty, students’ foundation and learning purpose, and put forward the necessity of teaching reform. Reform research and practice was carried out about “student-centered” teaching method, teaching tools and teaching ideology. The single teaching method was changed, and the “hierarchical” teaching and guidance was used, thus the differences of chemical fundamentals between students were narrowed, and the difficulty of learning was reduced. Various teaching tools were used for online-offline hybrid teaching, such as MOOC and other platforms, some course contents were taught and practiced in detail and repeated online, and some basic knowledge was consolidated, some key points were emphasized offline, the students’ online learning was supervised and managed through the background data and online test, and that was connected with the offline homework and exams, so it was assured that online and offline essence equivalent. The teaching ideology was reformed, some examples were used to introduce how to integrated the political elements into the chemistry course, so as to stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning, help them to establish a good view of life and world outlook, and then make teachers really do “both teaching and educating”.
