Abstract Based on COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment guidelines by National Health Commission of China as well as NIH, 10 types of excellent small-molecule antiviral drugs are selected and introduced in this paper as representative cases for synthetic routes analysis, involving various important reaction types in basic organic chemistry, such as radical substitution, electrophilic addition, electrophilic substitution, nucleophilic addition, nucleophilic substitution, diazo reaction and so on. It provides abundant application cases for organic chemistry teaching and helps for cultivation of the sense of social responsibility.
