Based on COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment guidelines by National Health Commission of China as well as NIH, 10 types of excellent small-molecule antiviral drugs are selected and introduced in this paper as representative cases for synthetic routes analysis, involving various important reaction types in basic organic chemistry, such as radical substitution, electrophilic addition, electrophilic substitution, nucleophilic addition, nucleophilic substitution, diazo reaction and so on. It provides abundant application cases for organic chemistry teaching and helps for cultivation of the sense of social responsibility.

Nano catalyst usually has high catalytic activity because of the size effect. However, the active components of nano-catalysts are easy to be sintered under high temperature conditions such as preparation process and reaction process, which results in a series of problems such as the degradation of catalytic stability. Designing structured catalyst such as core/yolk shell catalyst is one of the most effective measures to improve the sintering resistance of nano-catalyst. In this paper, firstly, the sintering mechanism of nanocatalysts is introduced. Subsequently, the design strategies of core/yolk shell structured catalyst are discussed. Finally, the preparation methods of core/yolk shell structured catalyst are summarized, providing reference for their application in high temperature reactions.

As an essential chemical element in all life forms, phosphorus plays a nonnegligible role in a series of processes including energy metabolism, micro- and macromolecular structural modification, and the central dogma. While relevant mechanisms and regulations of enzymatic reactions are often mentioned in biochemistry curricula, a systemic analysis and discussion still remains elusive. By looking at the fundamental structures and reactions of organophosphate and phosphoric anhydride, here we elucidate the mechanisms of relevant regulatory enzymes in cells and aim to systematically clarify in vivo transformation of adenosine triphosphate, the most characteristic and important species of phosphoric anhydride. As a summary of biological processes of phosphorus, this manuscript not only serves as an exploration of new pedagogical models in chemistry and life sciences, but also expects to inspire students in their research design.

This paper enumerated several typical teaching examples of the public elective course “Trace Elements and Human Health”. The teaching concept of “Three kinds of Knowledge and Three Characters (TKTC)” was integrated in the course. It combined the knowledge of chemistry, medicine, humanities and history. And it also harmonized the ideological and political nature, scientific popularization and enjoyment. The TKTC concept provides a new method and idea for the teaching reform and curriculum construction of public elective courses on chemistry and health series.

This paper discusses the ideological and political elements, teaching methods and approaches of chemistry courses, and puts forward the ideological and political teaching strategy of “six dimensions and four constructions”. From the “six dimensions” of chemical philosophy, chemical values, chemical scientific spirit, chemical thinking method, chemical ethics and chemical culture, the ideological and political elements of chemistry courses are determined. The teaching methods and approaches of curriculum ideological and political education are systematically designed with “four constructions”, that is, based on the innovation of teaching objectives, the reconstruction of teaching contents and the construction of teaching resources as the focus, the construction of teaching methods as the key, and the establishment of achievement evaluation system as the guarantee. Based on the ideological and political strategies of “six dimensions and four constructions”, the practice of inorganic and analytical chemistry teaching is carried out. The results show that these strategies can effectively improve the pertinence and effectiveness of curriculum education, and provide a reference thought and mode for the ideological and political construction of similar courses in colleges and universities.

Under the background of normal professional certification, the author implemented the concept of outcome-based education in chemistry English class in normal university, according to the characteristics and problems encountered during teaching-learning process of this course. In this paper we explored teaching strategies by establishing pre-class oral presentation, using mind mapping and innovating the ideological and political curriculum. Practice in class showed that the above methods could improve the teaching quality, enhance the students’ teaching ability, learning skill and education capability, meet the graduation requirements of chemistry major in Normal University.

Information technologies have been applied completely in the field of education. To exploit the particular advantages of offline-online integrated teaching and adhere to the educational purpose, two-way classroom teaching mode has been constructed based on SME (strategy-method-evaluation), which includes the flexible enactment of teaching strategy according to the goal of talent training and curriculum orientation, the diversified application of teaching method and dynamic classroom effect evaluation in order to promote the development of teachers and students. Two-way classroom teaching mode was studied and practiced using physical chemistry as an example. With the aid of modern education technique, it will play an active role in improving classroom teaching level of teachers and cultivating diversified talents with critical and creative thinking.

Based on the educational concept of “student-centered”, a data-driven blended learning based on problem-based learning (PBL) is designed to solve the problems in the PBL learning of organic chemistry. An empirical study was carried out using the curriculum “Organic Chemistry” as an example. The offline teaching content focuses on finding the student’s zone of proximal development according to the student-learning data, such as the duration of students’ online self-learning and test statistics. According to the student-learning data, decisions on teaching content and activities were flexibly adjusted, focusing on solving difficult problems in online learning, and focusing on students’ deep learning and personalized teaching in the classroom. This teaching mode realizes the deep integration of online learning and offline learning activities. The results of questionnaire survey and behavior analysis show that data-driven blended learning based on PBL is an effective teaching mode to improve students’ learning quality, with advantages of student-centered, individualized instruction, and continuous teaching improvement.

This paper reports the teaching reform of polymer chemistry for incorporating ideological and political education into the course, wherein, ideological and political education elements were deeply dug, the concrete ways and methods of “ideological and political education in curriculum” were put forward. The educational function of the curriculum was brought into full play so as to realize the great ideological and political pattern of full education, all-round education and education for all. This paper takes the “microplastics on marine environment demonstration” class for the polymer chemistry major as an example to showcase the case design for political and ideological instruction from five aspects, covering the case theme, teaching targets, teaching methods, teaching course and investigation and analysis of teaching results. The analysis results of practice effect suggested that this demonstration class fully exploits the moral education elements in major courses, improves the ability of college students’ ideological and political, efficiently stimulates students’ learning interests and achieves a good teaching effect.

The preparation of 12-tungstosilicic acid is a normal experiment in the Inorganic Chemistry Experiment. This experiment is a verification experiment, with the shortage of inquiry and comprehensiveness, the amount of experimental medicine is large, and the safety is low. In this paper, according to “National Standard for Undergraduate Teaching Quality of Chemistry Specialty”, considering the experimental design and safety, the experiment has been improved in inorganic preparation, structure characterization and performance measurement. The micro-experiments and single factor experiments were used to explore influences of different factors on the preparation of 12-tungstosilicic acid by diethyl ether extraction method. Ultraviolet and infrared spectra were used on product structure characterization. Electrochemical workstation was learned to determine the electrochemical properties of the product. Students were guided to master the research methods scientifically and systematically. Students could deep the green chemistry concept, enhance the understanding of the relationship between structure and performance, and understand the application of polyacid, aiming to cultivate students’ comprehensive experimental ability and innovative capability, which could lay foundations for thesis and research work.

Polymer material preparation, catalyst preparation, material characterization and orthogonal experiment are introduced into chemical engineering experiments through esterification distillation of butyl citrate. (1) Through the preparation of polyaniline, students can understand the polymer polymerization experiment, broaden the scope of knowledge, and integrate the local industrial needs in the classroom. (2) Students can understand the preparation method of the catalyst, characterize and analyze the polymer materials and catalysts, master the application of instrumental analysis in catalyst preparation, and enhance the comprehensive experimental ability. (3) The orthogonal experiment is used to explore the best experimental conditions of esterification distillation experiment. (4) Butyl citrate esterification is used instead of ethyl acetate esterification to update the experimental content and meet the needs of the new development of new materials. This experiment can effectively connect the chemical engineering experiment with the local industrial needs and the cultivation of postgraduates’ scientific research ability. Through this experiment, students can apply book knowledge to practical application, increase their sense of acquisition,and improve innovative ability and comprehensive quality.

As one of the most effective means to build carbon-carbon bonds, the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction has a wide range of applications in the fields of pharmacy, catalysis, and advanced material preparation. A comprehensive and innovative experiment in organic chemistry was introduced in this article: applying Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction to explore the kinetics of organic reaction, clarify the effects of the concentration of various substances on the reaction rate, explain the chemical reaction mechanism more closely. The comprehensive experimental project is helpful to deepen students’ understanding of the mechanism of Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction, stimulate students’ interests in scientific research on chemical kinetics, improve students’ practical level in anhydrous-oxygen-free operation and instrumental analysis, also cultivate students’ innovative spirit.

Teachers’ professional accreditation is an important measure to guarantee and improve the quality of teacher education. The implementation of teachers’ professional accreditation will promote the construction and reform of teacher education curricula. It is of great significance to promote the construction and reform of teacher education curricula to evaluate teacher education curricula according to the requirements of teachers’ professional accreditation. Taking the course “instruction design and practice of high school chemistry teaching” as an example, this paper evaluates the course objective, content, implementation mode, evaluation method and other aspects, and finds its imperfections according to the results. For example, the learning efficiency of normal university students needs to be improved, and it is difficult to detect the changes in the progression of normal university students. Based on the certification standards, corresponding improvement measures are put forward, such as adding the process of reporting teaching reflection of normal university students in the curriculum, and making the content of self-reflection of normal university students obvious.

In order to adapt to the development situation of higher vocational education in China and improve students’ vocational ability and quality, the innovative practice teaching platform for cosmetic technology specialty was constructed by referring to the concept of CDIO engineering education. The platform has rearranged the correlation between the curriculum system of practical teaching of cosmetic technology and the curriculum involved in the conceptual research and development, process design and optimization, detection and evaluation, and the whole life cycle of product realization of cosmetics. These courses related to the specific life course of cosmetics are respectively assigned to four aspects of the concept (C), design (D), implementation (I) and operation (O) of the engineering education concept, so as to achieve the innovative construction of the practical teaching platform for the cosmetics technology specialty. The research deepens students’ understanding and application of professional knowledge, improves students’ practical ability, engineering ability, innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and better realizes the goal of training talents for cosmetics technology specialty.

During the construction of “double first-class” universities, it is important to promote the cross integration of theoretical disciplines and practical disciplines. Under this background, this paper takes the “magical methyl effect” as an example to illustrates the fusion of the courses of medical chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry. The influence of the magic methyl group on the pharmacokinetic properties, molecular conformation or lipophilicity of drugs was analyzed from their chemical structures, which finally eliminates their toxicity, energetically favors binding and boosts potency, or increases their druggability. The integration of the comprehensive and practical course of pharmaceutical chemistry and the theoretical course of medical chemistry will help students understanding the classical theories of chemistry and sets up a meaningful knowledge system based on the reality of new drug-development that is meaningful for students’ career growth. It is hoped that the shortcoming of the disconnection of theoretical theories and practical applications in the traditional teaching modes can be overcome, and the standards of education could be constantly improved.

In order to solve the problems that the textbook for graduate students can not keep up with the developments of scientific research and may be challenged by the latest research achievements, this paper explores the combination of lecture method and problem-based learning (PBL) method practiced in course ofsurface chemistry advances in detail. Measures such as the participation of the tutor team in classroom activities, the full use of network resources, the inviting experts to give lectures, the enrichment of assessment and evaluation mechanisms, the survey research and the timely questioning and feedback of students are put forward and emphasized. The pattern that the problem-oriented and the students play the roles is fully practiced. The process of scientific research from finding problems, analyzing problems to solve them, as well as the importance of independent thinking and critical thinking are demonstrated. This mode of combination of lecture method and PBL method which not only cultivates students understanding the frontier development of scientific research but also makes the student have the ability of independent thinking, critical thinking and independent innovation is practiced and innovated.

This paper mainly relies on the basic principles of thermodynamics in physical chemistry, has a shallow discussion of thermodynamic methods and a brief introduction of chemical thermodynamic methods and engineering thermodynamic methods. Thermodynamic methods mainly include cycle method, characteristic function method, variable transformation method, standard state method, equilibrium method, extreme value method, micro-element method, etc., and the characteristics, functions and significance of various methods are summarized. It has a certain guiding significance for students to learn the thermodynamics in physical chemistry, and expands the basic knowledge of thermodynamics.

In this essay, the significance of the education of chemical history in university teaching is briefly discussed by the aid of taking some outstanding contributions from famous scientists in the development of fluorescence as examples. The reasonable introduction of historical events and figures in the processes of class teaching and knowledge imparting, on one hand, is helpful to enhance learning interest, upgrade teaching quality, and deepen scientific understanding, and on the other hand, is benefit to the drawing of scientific nutrition from the development of chemistry history and the acquirement of mental strength, in order to achieve the ultimate education goal of “understanding the truth, enhancing the faith, admiring the noble virtue, and fulfilling the oath”.
