Abstract In order to adapt to the development situation of higher vocational education in China and improve students’ vocational ability and quality, the innovative practice teaching platform for cosmetic technology specialty was constructed by referring to the concept of CDIO engineering education. The platform has rearranged the correlation between the curriculum system of practical teaching of cosmetic technology and the curriculum involved in the conceptual research and development, process design and optimization, detection and evaluation, and the whole life cycle of product realization of cosmetics. These courses related to the specific life course of cosmetics are respectively assigned to four aspects of the concept (C), design (D), implementation (I) and operation (O) of the engineering education concept, so as to achieve the innovative construction of the practical teaching platform for the cosmetics technology specialty. The research deepens students’ understanding and application of professional knowledge, improves students’ practical ability, engineering ability, innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and better realizes the goal of training talents for cosmetics technology specialty.
