Abstract This study takes “I am rocket propellant designer” as the theme and “how to make rockets fly” as the driving problem. Under the command of the big idea of “energy”, the interdisciplinary practice is carried out. Through the three core activities of “exploring the mystery of rocket launch, the selection and utilization of rocket propellant, and the understanding and selection of hydrogen energy”, the cognitive model of “understanding chemical changes from the perspectives of material change, energy change, reaction conditions, reaction phenomena, reaction types and conservation of elements” is constructed. And the simple interdisciplinary problems are discussed from the perspective of chemistry to understand the importance of rational utilization of substances and regulation of chemical reactions.
