Abstract The ion diffusion coefficient is a key parameter that determines the rate and efficiency of electrochemical reactions. Not only does it directly characterize the intrinsic ion kinetic transport capability of electrode materials, but it also serves as a core indicator for evaluating the power efficacy of energy storage systems such as rechargeable batteries. The galvanostatic intermittent titration technique(GITT) is an important analytical method in the field of electrochemistry, commonly used to characterize the ion diffusion coefficients and electrochemical kinetic processes of electrode materials. It plays a significant role in assessing the performance of electrode materials and guiding the analysis of structure-property relationships. This paper is based on the frontier field of electrochemical energy storage in the global strategy, focusing on the importance of ion diffusion processes in electrode materials, and introduces GITT into undergraduate electrochemistry teaching.Through the design of theoretical explanation and experimental operation, centered on the calculation of diffusion coefficients of button-type lithium/sodium-ion half-cell electrode materials, students can intuitively understand the diffusion behavior of ions in electrode materials.
