Abstract There is tautomerism between keto form and enol form of some carbonyl compounds. In this paper, the difference of stability of the two isomers and the factors affecting the stability of the enol form structure are analyzed from different angles. The applications of the enol form structure in several common organic reaction mechanisms are also presented.
