Abstract Based on chemical theory and fundamental chemistry experiment, the project-based learning of organic chemistry classroom teaching is carried out.Taking“synthesis of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid”as the project theme, students are guided to learn the important knowledge of the aldehydes and ketones chapter, and apply the knowledge to the project tasks of“synthesis of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid”.The project revolves around key tasks including initial and re-acquaintance with aldehydes and ketones, analysis of the preparation principle and process of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid, design and synthesis of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid, presentation and exchange, presenting a project-based learning design approach and teaching practice process that integrates theoretical and experimental teaching in university organic chemistry.
