Abstract According to the development of chemistry, this paper analyzed some problems in cultivation of innovative abilities of postgraduates major in chemical engineering and technology in agriculture and forestry universities, and put forward some solutions such as optimizing the graduate recruit mode, improving the innovative curriculum system, establishing a new training mode, updating educational concepts of teachers, establishing strict sound assessment and evaluation system, strengthening the team construction of tutors, building all-round, multi-level grants system, enhancing international cooperation and communication, in order to establish a new innovative ability cultivation system for postgraduates in chemical engineering and technology.
