Abstract Taking the pre-service teachers participating in the teaching skills competition as the research objects, this article analyzed the differences of the teaching skills of pre-service teachers and investigated the relationship between microteaching and teaching skills. The results showed that pre-service teachers had good teaching skills and there was no significant difference of simulation class, blackboard design and impromptu speech session while pre-service teachers in different grades or using different textbook. However, there existed significant differences of simulation class, blackboard design and impromptu speech between the high group and the low group while pre-service teachers divide by microteaching academic level. Regression curve also indicated that microteaching had positive effect to promote pre-service teachers' teaching skills.
