Abstract Crystal-field-induced magnetic anisotropy and necessary mathematical derivation are discussed in detail, including the relationship among crystal field, the annihilation of orbital magnetic moment and magnetic anisotropy, and the determination of crystal field parameters from magnetic property measurements and spectrum data.
