Abstract This paper studied the green improvement of preparation of copper sulfate crystal with copper as raw material, nitric acid as the oxidant. The results showed that the product quality was affected by the grinding and calcination time of copper powder, sulfuric acid concentration and oxidant. Product yield could reach 67.92% when copper powder milled for 20 min, calcination time was 35 min, 3 mol/L H2SO4 as the medium and H2O2 as the oxidant. The product quality and yield have increased significantly than the traditional preparation method. It was consistent with the principles of green chemistry.
