Abstract The judgement of the R/S configuration of organic compounds is the difficult point of organic chemistry teaching in college. This article discussed the methods for designating the R/S configuration of organic compounds with different structure such as open-chain Fischer projective formula, cyclic compound and chiral molecule with no chiral carbon atom. These methods will help the primary learner with naming and identifying chiral carbon and chiral molecule.
