Group cooperative learning, as an active learning mode, was introduced in the teaching of chemistry and chemical engineering English to stimulate the interests of students. But in the actual teaching activities, there often existed many problems such as casual grouping, low participation, ambiguous character, inefficient evaluation and other problems. Herein, by analyzing questionnaire of some classes that took part in group cooperative learning, this paper tried to supply some strategies such as reasonable grouping, appropriate guidance, suitable evaluation and so on, which could provide some theoretical evidence for the related teaching activities.

Based on the general ideas and principles of preparation experiment, we innovatively designed the "methods of guiding" and "experimental process" in writing the special topic of material preparation in Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry Experiment textbook. We expected students to be familiar with the general ideas of material preparation and to know the general principles of designing experiment scheme well via some typical preparation experiments of inorganic compounds, and focued on training the basic chemical experimental quality and the whole experiment ability of students.

The judgement of the R/S configuration of organic compounds is the difficult point of organic chemistry teaching in college. This article discussed the methods for designating the R/S configuration of organic compounds with different structure such as open-chain Fischer projective formula, cyclic compound and chiral molecule with no chiral carbon atom. These methods will help the primary learner with naming and identifying chiral carbon and chiral molecule.

In order to solve problems in preparing tetraammine copper(Ⅱ) sulfate such as unreasonable dosage of reagent and ammonia pollution, this paper improved the experimental device, discussed the effect of concentration of cupric sulfate solution and aqueous ammonia on the yield, determined the suitable dosage of ammonia and ethanol, analyzed the washing effect of some washing detergents, and recycled the residual ethanol in the filtrate. The optimized condition for preparing tetraammine copper(Ⅱ) sulfate was: 0.5~1.0 mol/L cupric sulfate solution reacting with 4~8 mol/L aqueous ammonia with an excess of 80%, and the dosage of ethanol is 3 times of the volume of the reaction mixture.

In this paper, home-made (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2·6H2O crystal acted as an efficient Fenton regent to degrade several indicators of the analytical chemistry experiments. The results revealed that the indicators could be effectively degraded and decolorized. Therefore, we suggested that the experiment should be added to analytical chemistry experiments in order to degrade the toxic indicators.

This paper introduced the construction of network teaching system for general chemistry experiment that paid more attention to the establishment of multi-media lab, selection and processing of experiment contents and construction of network teaching platform and data processing system. Teaching practice showed that network teaching had advantages including low work intensity, high work efficiency, distinct audiovisual demonstration, fair evaluation and expanded leaning space, all of which have extremely significance in improving the teaching mode of general chemical experiment.

Irving Langmuir, winner of the 1932 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, was invited to Japan and Peking where he delivered academic lectures and had a discussion with Chinese physicists and chemists in 1934. His brilliant speech had left a deep impression on the Chinese scholars. Based on some inferences such as the Collected Works of Irving Langmuir and reports come from the press,this study was an attempt to recur the grand pictures of lectures given by Irving Langmuir in China and in Japan.
