Abstract In order to solve the current teaching problems of foundation courses in higher vocational college, the blended teaching mode of organic chemistry course was successfully constructed based on the excellent course and the characteristic of organic chemistry. Our study demonstrated that the teaching mode was effectively turned into the "learning oriented" from "teaching oriented" by using flipped classroom teaching combined with online learning and classroom teaching. Simultaneously, according to the characteristics of the students in higher vocational colleges, the quality of teaching could be guaranteed by adopting the problem-based learning task list and the group learning mode of leader responsibility system.
