Abstract This paper probed high school students' learning about the content of saline hydrolysis by using the two-tier diagnostic tests and semi-structured interviews, and comprehend their mental models about definition and nature of saline hydrolysis, writing in hydrolysis reaction equation, judging acid-base property of salt solution, influence factors of saline hydrolysis, applying three conservation laws in saline hydrolysis and application of saline hydrolysis, such as interedependency model, misconceptions model,thinking-set model,macro-micro-symbol cognitive bias model and so on. At last, this paper put forward relevant teaching suggestions for teachers.
