Abstract From the selection and numbering of the main chain, the expression and ordering of substituents, the writing of compound names and other aspects, we took the typical parent hydrides of chain hydrocarbons as examples and compared the similarities and differences between the old and the new nomenclature principles of organic compounds published by Chinese Chemical Society in 2017. We hope to help university organic chemistry instructors and students gain new insights through reviewing old rules, grasp the new principles and start targeted teaching and mastering the lasted nomenclature principles as soon as possible.
