Abstract To understand the awareness degree of residents in Datong on indoor air quality security and analyze the relationship between cognition degree and education, residents from 9 communities were chosen by random sampling and questionnaires were conducted from March to May in 2016. Questionnaire's content includes three aspects:Residents' awareness about indoor air quality security knowledge and the will to monitor as well as improve their indoor air quality.We made statistical analysis about the effects of indoor air quality security cognition degree on residents' region, age and qualification. The result indicates that Datong residents' average score of indoor air quality security cognition degree is 15.8, scoring rate is 52.7%. Residents living in new urban area have a higher grade of cognition level than that in the old. The people who have higher qualifications and at younger age have a higher cognition level and stronger will to search for relative authorities to monitor and improve their indoor air quality, as well as they can bear a higher charge on monitoring and improvement. In general,Datong residents' cognition on indoor air quality security is not high, and there is a need to strengthen the education of indoor air quality security of citizens.
