Abstract The continuation and coordination between basic chemistry and specialty chemistry are usually critical problems during the chemistry teaching. This paper classified the complex basic knowledge and professional theory as specific learning objectives; and the course content was reorganized accordingly. The PBL mode was defined as teaching method to enhance the self-management and problem solving abilities in the learning process. The CBL mode was employed for case analysis. The abstract and boring theoretical knowledge was turned into intuitive and vivid cases, which prompted students to constantly think about the reason and mechanism of this problem or phenomenon, overcoming the deficiency of the mutual separation between ordinary teaching theory and practice. Such teaching methods combine reason-result, point-face and abstract-concrete perspectives to emphasize key knowledge points. The results of the surveys show better efficiency for encourage and motivation of students and thus improve their examine results.
