Comparative Study on Chemical Enlightenment in Junior High School for “Experiment, Illustrations and Extracurricular Knowledge ” in Chemistry/Science Textbooks of the Mainland and Taiwan of China
Abstract Through comparing the chemistry/ science textbooks of people's education edition in mainland and Kang Hsuan edition in Chinese Taiwan, this paper did a research about chemical enlightenment by the questionnaire survey method and the research comparison method, including the students' learning attitude towards chemistry in the enlightenment stage and the contents of “experimental, illustration and extracurricular knowledge” in the teaching materials. The results indicated that chemistry experiment was not only an attraction but also a difficulty for the students in the initial stage of chemistry, and the chemistry experiment exploration in the teaching materials in Chinese Taiwan could exercise the students' ability. Secondly, it was found that the design of illustrations in the textbook had a great influence on the students' learning of chemistry in the chemical enlightenment stage. Thirdly, realistic picture helped students understand chemistry better than simulated ones.
