Abstract Taking student activities as the carrier and using performance evaluation, it is helpful to the formation of students’ core literacy. According to the connotation of “expressive evaluation” and “evidential reasoning and model cognition”, the performance assessment rubric is put forward from four dimensions: obtaining reasoning evidence, evidence-based reasoning, establishing cognitive model and model-based cognition;and the expressive task is designed according to the teaching content of the first lesson of “air”. Taking the teaching of the first lesson of “air” as an example, this paper focuses on the process of teachers based on the performance assessment rubric, observing students’ classroom performance, evaluating students’ accomplishment and adjusting teaching in time.
