Abstract The four common plant polyphenol compounds and their derivatives, including gallic acid, resveratrol, quercetin and curcumin, are introduced from the perspectives of substance structure, medical function, extraction and synthesis methods and other aspects. These plant polyphenol compounds have anti-oxidation, anti-bacterial, anti-tumor and other biological activities, and can be widely used in medicine, agriculture, food additives and other industries.
