Abstract This article reviews the history of the inorganic chemistry textbook development at Jilin University. Since the reinstatement of the college entrance examination and student enrollment system in China, the inorganic chemistry teaching team at Jilin University has devoted tremendous effort into the development of the first Chinese inorganic chemistry textbook, its second and third editions, and the accompanying lab manuals, as well as the corresponding problem sets and solution manuals. All these books have embodied the wisdom of the inorganic chemistry teaching team at Jilin University, forming a profound historical accumulation. With the advent of the new century, a growing team of authors has emerged from years of teaching activities and a variety of brand new inorganic chemistry textbooks have been written to address the challenges of the new era. Through the effort of generations of teachers, the inorganic chemistry textbooks have been continuously developed and refined, resulting in a multifaceted and multidimensional, high-quality textbook system, which can address the needs of various disciplines and curricular plans at different levels. The inorganic chemistry textbook system developed by Jilin University continues to play a key role in the inorganic chemistry teaching at Chinese colleges and universities.
