Abstract Memory is the basis for students to carry out other cognitive activities. Due to the limitations of memory capacity and retention time, it has some defects, which are manifested in seven types: distraction, suggestion, forgetfulness, entanglement, blank, misunderstanding and bias. Memory defects affect students' chemistry learning. Understanding the seven memory defects of students in chemistry learning can accurately grasp the causes of students' difficulties in chemistry learning, and take certain teaching methods to improve teaching.
