Abstract Cultivating the ability of scientific research and innovation is of great importance for the major of new energy materials and devices. Therefore, this paper introduced the reaction of CO2 electroreduction to analyze the relative potential, absolute potential and reference electrode of electrochemical principle, reveal the meaning of practical application of potential, and explore the correlation between basic theoretical teaching and the frontier of scientific research. Integrating the scientific frontiers and basic theory stimulates students' professional interest, making students pay attention to scientific frontier. Finally, it will provide the foundation for training comprehensive professionals in new energy materials and devices.
