Abstract Under the background of normal professional certification, the author implemented the concept of outcome-based education in chemistry English class in normal university, according to the characteristics and problems encountered during teaching-learning process of this course. In this paper we explored teaching strategies by establishing pre-class oral presentation, using mind mapping and innovating the ideological and political curriculum. Practice in class showed that the above methods could improve the teaching quality, enhance the students’ teaching ability, learning skill and education capability, meet the graduation requirements of chemistry major in Normal University.
