Ontology, Epistemology and Axiology of STEM Education

Abstract STEM education has been widely concerned as an emerging path to cultivate compound talents. The connotation of STEM education is systematically explained from the perspectives of ontology, epistemology and axiology: the essence of STEM education points to the understanding of the composition and relationship of STEM disciplines in terms of curriculum orientation, and the understanding of the particularity of interdisciplinary teaching concepts in terms of teaching orientation; The teaching of STEM education emphasizes the understanding of the connotation and structure of STEM literacy, and also emphasizes the understanding of the concept of integrated STEM education; At the national level, STEM education has the value of enhancing the country’s comprehensive strength and core competitiveness, and at the individual level, it has the value of promoting the all-round development of individuals. Accurate grasp of the connotation of STEM education is the premise of effectively carrying out STEM education, and it is also the necessary way to fully realize the modernization of education.
