Abstract In view of the “pain points” such as students' low achievement degree of learning goals, insufficient awareness of thinking and innovation, and weak ability to solve complex problems, combined with the difficulty of the course itself, innovative teaching exploration is implemented in organometallic chemistry course. The reform is guided by the construction of “new engineering”, centered on students, and aimed at cultivating coreliteracy through curriculum reform and practical exploration. Based on the requirements of the core literacy of organometallic chemistry, a target system with “clarity, thinking and differentiation” as the essential quality and the key ability to solve complex problems of organometallic chemistry wasconstructed,a hierarchical/phased teaching content bearing the teaching objectives wasdeveloped along with a rich and diversified resource system, and a capability-orientedblended teaching mode integratingonline and offline, inside and outside classroomwas developed, as well as a multi-evaluation system guided by teaching goals was established. Teaching reform and practice exploration have reached the expected goal and received good teaching effect.
