Abstract Three metallic ion doped ZnO was prepared by a simple and direct percipitation, taking inorganic chemistry and photochemistry as the knowledge background and achieving the “dual carbon goals” as the core concept. The experiment consists of 8 stages: literature research, determination of experimental plan, material synthesis, material characterization, exploration of photocatalytic performance, data processing and analysis, report writing and sharing and exchange. This comprehensive experiment can help students integrate and master the relevant knowledge of inorganic chemistry, photochemistry, instrumental analytical chemistry, and structural chemistry. It could also inspire students to experience the technological advantages of high-tech instruments and equipment, cultivate a scientific research spirit of peer learning, win-win cooperation, and daring to climb new heights in group collaboration.
